He was in his 70's. Mr, Daniel was born in Jassy, Rumania, and grew up in Germany where he became picture manager for the Berlin office of The Associated Press. After Hitler came to power in 1933 be came to the United States and with Alfred Eisenstaedt, a former Berlin colleague, formed Pix, Inc.
